Abstract

The rapid scaling of solar photovoltaic (PV) deployment has surfaced a paradox: the same supply chains driving the energy transition also carry significant exposure to forced-labour risk, particularly in upstream polysilicon refining. We combine bilateral trade data, facility-level audits, and labour-rights indices to quantify modern-slavery risk across the global PV supply chain.
