Bridging disciplines, seeing the system
I’m a researcher at the University of Nottingham’s Rights Lab, working on how climate change, supply chains, and modern slavery connect. My day-to-day involves a mix of quantitative methods: climate modelling, network analysis, supply-chain mapping, and life cycle assessment. I’ve applied these across quite different industries, from food systems and solar panels to brick kilns.
I got here by a roundabout path. I trained as an Industrial Engineer and spent my early career as a business consultant, mostly building dashboards and performance metrics. Somewhere along the way I started asking what we were actually measuring, and whether profit was the right scorecard. That question pulled me toward sustainability research, and I’ve stayed there.
The part I enjoy most is making technical findings legible to people outside the field. A good chart or map can open up a conversation that a 40-page report won’t.
