New: I’m moving all the portfolio to a new location. There are empty templates, millioñes de typos, duplicates entries, and a lot of 404 errors. Doing this in my spare time so please be patient.

Climate Decent Work Risk Assessment Brazilian Agriculture

Climate change
Spatial analysis
A web map of climate-labour risk in Brazilian agriculture. Each hexagon combines a climate hazard score with a decent work score; filter by state, municipality or crop, and read the crop mix and indicator averages under an adjustable lens.

The CLIDEWO risk assessment as a map you can question. Each hexagon on it carries two scores for Brazilian agriculture: how exposed the land and its workers are to climate-related occupational hazards, and how decent the work there is. The map combines them into a climate-labour risk index. The strongest colour marks places where high hazard and poor working conditions coincide.

The scoring follows the IPCC approach, where risk comes from hazard, exposure and vulnerability, adjusted here for agricultural work and decent work conditions.

How to read it

By default the map shows the combined risk. Hexagon opacity shows how much sits in each cell, as crop area or as workers counted in Annual Work Units (AWU): the more solid the hexagon, the denser it is. The legend is a grid with climate hazard on one axis and decent work, from high to low, on the other. Click a square in it to keep only those hexagons.

A lens with an adjustable radius summarises whatever falls inside it: the risk index, the hazard and decent work scores, the main state and municipality, crop area, workers and the dominant crop mix. You can also narrow the map to a state, a municipality or a single crop.

Indicators

The climate hazard score covers excess heat, UV radiation, droughts, floods, wildfires, air pollution, vector-borne diseases, agrochemicals and water. The decent work score covers employment, earnings, working time, work-life balance, forced labour, stability, equality, a safe working environment, social security and social dialogue.

The risk score is z-score normalised and rescaled to 0–100. Fifty is the national mean, and a higher score means more at risk. The indicators are documented with the municipal dataset.
