Climate change affects agricultural workers first through their health. This dataset assembles two decades of occupational health surveillance records to make that connection visible at the municipality level across Brazil.

Two national systems contribute the data. SINAN (the notifiable diseases reporting system) provides incidence records from 2009 to 2024, covering work-related accidents, dengue cases, agrochemical poisoning, and violence among agricultural workers. SIHSUS (the national hospital admissions system) provides inpatient records from 2003 to 2024, filtered to approximately 900 ICD-10 diagnoses linked to six climate-driven occupational health pathways: excessive heat, air pollution, UV radiation, vector-borne diseases, agrochemical exposure, and waterborne diseases.

The dataset is the empirical foundation for the paper “Mapping Climate-Health Hot Spots: Implications for Workers’ Health and Decent Work in Brazilian Agriculture.”

Both sources are disaggregated to municipality level using IBGE codes, so they can be combined with other municipal-level climate and socio-economic data.
