Constellation of Inspections
Interactive · Labour Inspections · Brazil · CLIDEWO
The DataViz focuses on results of labour inspections across Brazil, where the relevance behind each fiscalização becomes visible at a glance. Whether one rescue or 1,064, each star symbolises justice for workers — and a reminder of the immense task ahead, the territory still to be covered, and the need to strengthen inspection capacity.
More inspectors mean a greater capacity to identify spots of vulnerability and eradicate degrading working conditions.
How to read it
Each point in the constellation represents one labour inspection (fiscalização) conducted by Brazil’s Ministry of Labour and Employment. Point size is proportional to the number of workers rescued from forced labour or degrading conditions during that inspection.
Voids in the constellation are not empty space — they are uncharted territory, regions where inspections have not yet reached. The density of points reflects inspection capacity as much as it reflects the actual distribution of labour violations.
